The very first K9 member of the St. Thomas Police Service has been retired.  Trax is hanging up his badge after three and a half years of dedicated service at the side of his trusted handler Constable Sean James.  Last month, PC James became concerned when  Trax began to exhibit an abnormal gait in his hind quarter.  The dog was sent for examination by an expert veterinarian and a career ending diagnosis of Gracillis Myopathy was delivered to the department.

Although we are sad to see Trax go we are reassured knowing he will live out his days as a beloved house pet to PC  James and his family enjoying much love and many treats.  The K9 unit is made possible by the sponsorship from our community partners;

HIRA Construction
St. Thomas Pet Valu
Pampered Pooch
Centennial Sports Club

The St Thomas Police Service is dedicated to continuing the successful K9 program and is currently negotiating the purchase of a new police dog.  It is with great anticipation we look forward to introducing our new K9 soon!
