(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) –  Early this morning, August 17, 2017, at 1:49 am, an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, initiated a vehicle stop on Highway 35 in OPS Township for a traffic violation.

After an investigation, the officer determined the vehicle had been stolen from the Peterborough area. The owner of the vehicle, who was unaware the vehicle had been stolen was located.

As a result, the driver of the vehicle, Ian MacNaughton, 55 years of age of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under  $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 21, 2017.
