Syringe wielding suspect steals large amount of cash, Peterborough man charged

A 24-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested on a warrant following a robbery with a weapon.

On August 25, 2017, at approximately 3:20 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Charlotte Street for a robbery. It was reported that while the victim, a man in his 20’s, was in the area earlier that day the accused brandished a syringe, threatened to destroy his property and robbed him of a large amount of cash. The victim and the accused know each other.

Through the investigation, the accused was identified and on August 29, 2017, a warrant was issued for his arrest. On August 30, 2017, at approximately 7:50 p.m. the accused was located walking in the area of George Street North where he was arrested on the warrant.

Randy Lee Vilneff, 24, of Lansdowne Street East, is charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats – damage property
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Aug. 31).
