On August 15, 2017, at 8:30 a.m., a pick-up truck was travelling north on Arthur Street, approaching the Sawmill Road roundabout in Woolwich Township, when the front left tire separated from the vehicle and rolled into the center of the roundabout.
The vehicle stopped on the center curb of the roundabout. The wheel is believed to have separated due to over torquing of the wheel nuts over an extended period of time.
Waterloo Regional Police inspected the truck and found it to have other safety issues, including a defective odometer, defective braking system and overweight load. The 27-year-old male driver, from the London area, was not injured.
