Woman knocked unconscious from behind while walking through forest trails

Investigators with the York Regional Police #3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking a suspect and are asking any witnesses to come forward after an assault in the Town of Georgina.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at approximately 5:20 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was walking in trails through a forest in the area of Deer Park Drive and Metro Road South. She advised she was listening to music on her headphones and she did not hear anyone approach. Suddenly, she was struck from behind and lost consciousness.  

Nothing was taken during the incident. The victim attended hospital for minor injuries.

Investigators are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed or heard anything suspicious in the trails or surrounding area around the time of the incident.

As a precaution, York Regional Police will be increasing patrols in that area while the investigation is progressing.
