Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section have charged a 62-year-old man following a sexual assault in the Town of Richmond Hill.  

On September 19, 2017, York Regional Police attended a residence in the area of Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road after a parent called to report that her 15-year-old daughter with a disability, had been sexually assaulted by her bus driver.

On September 20, 2017, the suspect was arrested and has been charged.

The suspect is known to have operated a school bus for the past five years. Investigators are releasing an image of the accused to ensure that there are no further victims.

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on October 17, 2017.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
