UPDATE: The 22-year-old Pickering male involved in a motor vehicle collision on Friday has succumbed to his injuries.

A 22-year-old Pickering male sustained life-threatening injuries after being involved in a motor vehicle collision on Kingston Road at Rougemount Drive in Pickering.

On Friday September 1, 2017 at approximately 6:40 a.m., officers from West Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. A grey Mazda 3 was east bound on Kingston Road at Rougemount Drive when it collided with a gold Acura 3.2, which was southbound on Rougemount Drive.

The 22-year-old driver of the Mazda 3 was extricated from his motor vehicle and transported to Scarborough Centenary Hospital with severe injuries. He was subsequently transported to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for further treatment, where he remains in critical condition.

The 69-year-old driver of the Acura was also transported to Scarborough Centenary Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
