Officers from the Peel Regional Police 22 Division have arrested and charged a 17 year-old male that intentionally rammed two police vehicles while driving a stolen vehicle.
On Sunday, September 10, 2017, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a 17 year-old male was operating a motor vehicle in the area of McMurchy Avenue south of Queen Street in the city of Brampton. The vehicle had been reported stolen on August 28, 2017, from River Grove Community Center in Mississauga.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the accused intentionally rammed two police vehicles while attempting to evade arrest. The accused abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot. The accused was located a short distance away and arrested without incident.
Damage was incurred to all three involved vehicles however there were no injuries sustained as a result of this incident.
The 17 year-old accused has been charged with two counts of Fail to remain at scene of accident and one count of Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The accused has been held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged or involved in this investigation are protected.
