Over the weekend, DRPS responded to more than 40 calls for impaired drivers and arrested 10 people.
In one of the incidents, a driver turned left on a red light in front of an officer, then failed to stop for police.
On Sunday, September 17, 2017, at approximately 2 a.m., an officer from Central East Division observed a vehicle turn left from Centre Street South onto King Street West when the traffic light was red. The officer initiated a traffic stop, however the vehicle did not stop. The suspect vehicle was swerving along the roadway and came close to striking parked vehicles and concrete barriers.
