Your Orangeville Police Service has charged a 44-year-old Georgetown woman after she was clocked travelling 59 km/h over the posted speed limit on Veterans Way Sunday morning.
On Sunday, September 24, 2017, an Orangeville police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Veteran’s Way. This area is a posted 60km/h zone and police receive many complaints regarding the excessive speeds of vehicles travelling on the road.
At approximately 10:10am, police observed a 2017 Volvo XC7 traveling south. The officer’s radar unit clocked the vehicle traveling at a speed of 119km/h. The vehicle was directed to stop and the female driver was served a summons for the charge of Stunt Driving- Excessive Speed by more than 50km/h over the posted speed limit.
In addition to the charge, the woman’s driver’s license was automatically suspended for 7 days and her vehicle was seized and impounded for 7 days.
The woman is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on October 25th to answer to the allegations.
This is the fifth Stunt Driving charge laid by the Orangeville Police Service this year.
