On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of a collision on Lancaster Street West in Kitchener.
A SUV, operated by an 80-year-old Rockwood female, was travelling north on Lancaster Street West through the roundabout when it collided with a van, driven by a 42-year-old Cambridge woman who was travelling east on Bridge Street. The SUV left the road, travelled over an embankment and came to rest on its roof in the Grand River.
A member of the public cut the driver’s seatbelt and pulled the driver to shore. A second member of the public stepped in to perform CPR on the driver until emergency services arrived. The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
