A 26-year-old Pickering male suffered fatal injuries and a 33-year-old Oshawa male suffered serious injuries as a result of a motor vehicle collision in Uxbridge.
On Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers from North Division were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Lakeridge Road south of Chalk Lake Road. The collision involved a red Hyundai Tucson and a gold Saturn.
Evidence indicates that the Saturn was travelling northbound on Lakeridge Road and the Hyundai was travelling southbound. The vehicles collided head on, causing both vehicles to spin. The Hyundai came to a stop in the west ditch, while the Saturn ended up in the east ditch. The driver of the Hyundai was extracted from his vehicle by fire and ambulance. He was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
The driver of the Saturn was pronounced at the scene. His name is not being released at this time.
Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
Police are looking for anybody who was travelling that roadway around the time of the collision, who have not already spoken to police.
