(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – At approximately 1:47 p.m. on September 22, 2017, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision on Hwy. 6 just north of Southgate Rd. 10 in the Township of Southgate involving a passenger vehicle and a dump truck.
The lone driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 39-year old Robert CHER of London, Ontario. Prior to the collision, he was operating a 2003 Buick Rendezvous northbound on Hwy. 6. The vehicle crossed the centre line and collided into the driver’s side of a southbound 2007 Mack CB dump truck.
A post-mortem is scheduled for September 23, 2017, in London.
The driver of the dump truck, a 53-year old male from Listowel, Ontario, was not injured.
The investigation continues with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI).
