Over the course of a 24 hour period there were a number of stolen vehicle investigations that police were involved in.

On September 21st, 2017 at 12:20pm police located a stolen Black Ford Focus travelling on Willow Road. Officers were able to identify the driver before attempting to stop the vehicle. Police lost sight of the vehicle in the Willow and Applewood area.

At 12:40pm the vehicle was located unoccupied in a parking lot on Willow Road. The Guelph Police Canine unit attended and located the suspect on Willow road. The suspect fled and a foot pursuit was initiated. The suspect entered into a residence on Willow Road. After speaking with the homeowner the suspect surrendered himself without incident.

A 21 year old Guelph man was placed under arrest and charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and two counts of breach probation. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing later today.

  • On Thursday September 21, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the police attempted to arrest a 28 year old male from Waterloo for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. 

The male’s vehicle was surrounded by unmarked police vehicles at the intersection of Curtis Drive and Silvercreek Parkway North.  As officers attempted to take the male into custody, the accused repeatedly struck multiple police vehicles in numerous directions in an effort to escape.  A police officer was struck by the male’s motor vehicle, however sustained no serious injuries. Eventually the male was able to flee in his vehicle. 

Later that same evening the accused was arrested at his residence in Waterloo and held for a bail hearing.

The accused was charged with dangerous driving, assault with intent to resist arrest, and fail to remain.

The officer struck by the vehicle did not require medical attention.

  • The suspect in the theft of a Honda Odyssey van stolen at a south end fitness facility on September 19th was identified and police were able to locate her north-end hotel.  At approximately 2:24am today she surrendered herself without incident after a brief negotiation with officers. The Odyssey van was also recovered in an adjacent lot.

The 20 year old Guelph female is charged with possession of stolen property and theft over $5000.00. She was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.

  • At approximately 1:42am today officers were investigating a blue Chevy Silverado that was seen with a lone male inside at an Eramosa Road parking lot when it was learned that the vehicle had been previously reported as stolen to the OPP in Eden Mills. The male was taken into custody and found to be in possession of numerous bank cards that belonged to other people.

The 29 year old Guelph man is charged with a total of 18 offences that include theft over $5000.00, possession of stolen property and breach of 3 different judicial release orders.  He was held in custody and will appear in bail court later today as well.

  • At approximately 12:20pm on September 21st, City of Guelph By-Law Officers alerted police to an unoccupied white 2015 Nissan Versa parked on Cole Road. That vehicle had been reported to police as stolen on September 14th from a Cardigan Street address. It was later that day when police located the vehicle in an Applewood Crescent and a passenger fled on foot and the driver fled in the vehicle.
