Your Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 35-year-old Walton man with several charges including Dangerous Driving as the result of an incident Friday night.
On Friday, September 8, 2017, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver on Louisa Street. The caller was an off duty police officer who witnessed a blue Volkswagen Tiago driving erratically on Broadway and at one point nearly colliding with the complainants vehicle. The complainant called police and followed the suspect vehicle which eventually came to a stop on Louisa Street.
As a marked Orangeville Police cruiser approached the scene, the suspect vehicle sped away. Police followed the vehicle and observed it travelling at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at three stop signs before turning north and out of the sight of police. Out of concern for public safety police did not continue to follow the vehicle. Police then received a call from a resident on Oakwood Crescent reporting a suspicious male who had asked the homeowner to call a cab for him. The suspect fled from the area on foot before police arrived leaving his vehicle behind. Police seized the vehicle. As a result of the investigation police were able to identify the driver as the registered owner of the vehicle.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9th, police received a call from the suspect advising that he was at the corner of Edenwood Crescent and Credit Creek Boulevard and that he was cold and lost.
Police attended the area and arrested the man for Dangerous Driving.
Piotr Pasterkiewwicz, 35, of Walton Ontario is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on October 10, 2017 to answer to allegations of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Stunt Driving, Fail to Stop for Police and three counts of Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop.
