A Peterborough teen is facing charges including assault with a weapon and forcible confinement following an incident involving her mother.
On September 22, 2017 the accused, a female teenager, was at her Peterborough home with the victim, her mother, when it was reported that she brandished a hammer, threatened the victim and prevented the victim from leaving the residence.
Police were contacted by a third party and officers attended the residence.
As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested at the scene and charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 23, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 25).
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released. Also, due to the domestic nature of the incident the name of the accused will not be released.
