A 36-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges following a police pursuit and traffic stop where officers seized meth and cocaine.
Shortly after midnight on September 24, 2017, officers on patrol saw a vehicle with stolen licence plates heading east on Dalhousie Street.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the accused failed to pull over. After a more than two-kilometre police pursuit, the accused pulled the vehicle into the driveway of a Dalhousie Street home.
During the subsequent search and investigation, the accused was found to be in possession of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. Through the investigation, it was revealed that the licence plates and a wallet found in the vehicle were stolen. It was also revealed that the accused is wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court on previous charges and is also a suspended driver.
As a result of the investigation Nicole Margaret Menard, 36, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Flight while pursued by peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 X2
- Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)
- Possession of a schedule I substance (Methamphetamine)
The accused was also charged with various offences under the Highway Traffic Act including driving while under suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on September 24, 2017, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Sept. 25).
