The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 48-year-old man in Sudbury early this morning.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

• Shortly after midnight on Monday, September 4, 2017, officers with the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) set up a perimeter around a residence in western Sudbury as a result of receiving a call.

• At 2:23 a.m., GSPS officers and paramedics entered the residence. A 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to this incident.

The post-mortem is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
