On Monday, September 4, 2017 around 10:30 p.m., Greater Sudbury Police responded to a collision on Paris Street near the Birchglen Apartments involving a cyclist. The motor vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene before Police arrival, however, the driver returned a short time later.
The 85-year old cyclist from Greater Sudbury was transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services. The man, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.
The 25-year old man from Greater Sudbury who was driving the motor vehicle has been charged with Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Involving Death and Dangerous Driving Causing Death.
Greater Sudbury Police will not be providing the identity of the cyclist out of respect for the family. We send our condolences to the family and friends of those affected by this tragic event.
