THOROLD – Two men face over a dozen charges in heroin trafficking investigation

In the summer of 2017, members of the Central Region Street Crime Unit began investigating the sale of heroin within the Niagara Region.  The investigation identified a supplier of heroin in the City of Thorold.  With the assistance of members from the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit the investigation culminated with arrests and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at an address in Thorold. 

Seized as a result was a quantity of suspected heroin, ecstasy, and marihuana as well Canadian currency and various trafficking indicators.  In addition, police located a marihuana grow operation and identified stolen property. 

Kody Mounsey was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Ecstasy for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Production of Marihuana
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000 (2 counts)
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000
  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000
  • Breach of Probation (2 counts)

Meagan Hyatt was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Ecstasy for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Production of Marihuana
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000

Mounsey and Hyatt were held pending a bail hearing on September 9th, 2017.
