A TBPS Uniform Patrol officer was dragged several feet by a car driven by a wanted Thunder Bay man.

A black Impala was stopped by a Uniform Patrol officer at Arthur Street and Syndicate Avenue just before noon on September 4, 2017.

The male driver had a warrant for failing to appear for a court date. When the officer attempted to make an arrest, the accused began to drive away, eventually dragging the officer approximately 20 feet. The officer received minor injuries and the accused and the car fled the scene.

The officer returned to his cruiser and both the driver and vehicle were put out for location. The injured officer was assisted by another responding officer in apprehending the accused in the area of Victoria Avenue and Simpson Street just after 12:00 p.m.

The accused was tackled by the officers into a glass window of a storefront in the 400 block of Victoria Avenue East. The accused and the two officers received minor injuries and were treated and released from hospital.

36-year-old James Nolan MORRISEAU is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Resisting a Police Officer. He has been held in custody for a future court date.
