A 23-year-old local man has been charged after stabbing himself and blaming his girlfriend.

On October 23, 2017, at approximately 4:00 a.m. officers responded to a motel east of the City. The accused had called 911 alleging that his girlfriend stabbed him in the leg, however, officers learned that accused had stabbed himself and assaulted the victim.

An investigation revealed that during an argument the accused became angry and grabbed an earring the victim was wearing which he then ripped out of her ear. The accused then grabbed a knife and locked himself in the bathroom at which time he stabbed himself in the leg and called the police.

The accused was transported to the hospital for medical attention and then to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault and public mischief.
