A 56-year-old man died as a result of a motor vehicle collision in Clarington this morning.

On Thursday October 19, 2017 at approximately 6:26 a.m., officers from East Division were called to Highway 2, between Morgans Road and Stapleton Road east of Newcastle, for the report of a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 56-year-old Newcastle man, was eastbound on Highway 2 when the vehicle was struck by a Volkswagen Golf sedan exiting a private driveway. The rider was ejected from his motorcycle. He was pronounced at the scene. The 23-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen did not sustain injury.

Members of Traffic Services attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The road was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
