Your Orangeville Police Service is looking for information to identity of two males with regards to passing counterfeit $50 US currency, Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, October 14, 2017, at approximately 2:00pm, a male attended a restaurant located at 115 Fifth Avenue in Orangeville and paid his tab using a US fifty dollar bill. After the male had left the restaurant, staff was suspicious of the currency and contacted police as they suspected that the money was counterfeit.
A second male attended another restaurant in the same area and attempted to pay his tab with a US fifty dollar bill. Restaurant staff would not accept the money as they suspected it to be counterfeit. The suspect left the restaurant and a fifty dollar bill was discarded in the parking lot. The money was found by another customer who turned it over to police.
Police seized both bills and believe that both are counterfeit.
Photos of the two suspects were obtained from security cameras at each restaurant.
One suspect is described as male, black, short, bald, wearing dark sunglasses and a blue jacket.
The second suspect is described as male, black, black hair with goatee, wearing a black leather coat.
Police are continuing their investigation and are asking to hear from anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the two suspects.
