At 7:30 am on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted regarding the theft of almost $3000.00 worth tools from a van that had been parked overnight on Duke Street in Lindsay.
As the day progressed the owner of the tools continued to seek out information regarding who was responsible for stealing the tools, knowing that the tools that were taken would be readily identifiable by markings they had made on them. At 8:00 pm on Thursday the owner contacted police with information about the location of the missing tools. The owner reported that they had attended at a Huron Street residence after receiving information that someone at the residence was selling tools that matched the description of the missing tools. When they attended, it was clear to them that the tools were theirs and they contacted police.
Kawartha Lakes Police arrested and charged 51-year-old James Clayton with Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00. Clayton will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017.
