(SARNIA, ON) – On September 26, 2017 at 8:15 p.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received several complaints in relation to two motorcycles racing in the area of 40 Highway and LaSalle Line, City of Sarnia.

An OPP Officer on general patrol observed the offending motorcycles northbound on 40 Highway north of LaSalle Line. The officer followed the motorcycles as they rapidly sped away and eventually utilizing his moving radar, measured the speed of the motorcycles in excess of 200 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

The motorcycles were followed a distance until they were caught up in traffic at which time the officer took control of the motorcycles by removing the keys in order to prevent the continuation of the offence and to deter escape.

As a result, Jason McIntyre, 35 years-of-age of Sarnia, Ontario and Brandon SMITH, 26 years-of-age had their motorcycles and driver’s licences seized for seven days and were charged with Racing, Section 172(1) of The Highway Traffic Act and must appear at the Sarnia Traffic Court on December 8, 2017.
