(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) – On October 30, 2017, at approximately 4:15 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department, Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and ORNGE Air Ambulance responded to a collision on Provincial Highway 402, Township of Adelaide Metcalfe.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a passenger sedan was travelling eastbound on Highway 402, east of Centre Road. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the median ditch causing the vehicle to overturn.

The vehicle was occupied by five (5) adults. The male driver was transported by ORNGE to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A female passenger was transported by land ambulance to an area hospital also with life-threatening injuries.

The remaining three passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Provincial Highway 402, from Centre Road to Hickory Drive will be closed to traffic at approximately 7:30 p.m. OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) officers will be assisting in this investigation.

The road closure is expected to be in place for five (5) hours. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and find alternate routes.
