Three people went to hospital with non-life threatening injuries last night after gunshots erupted on Elgin Court in Oshawa. One suspect has been arrested and several other suspects are being sought.
On Saturday, September 30, 2017 at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers were called to an apartment building on Elgin Court in Oshawa. Numerous citizens reported hearing multiple gunshots in the vicinity of one apartment. Several black males were seen running from the scene in different directions.
Officers arrived and located a 54-year-old female and a 23-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and later transferred to a Toronto trauma centre. One shooting victim, a 22-year-old male, was taken to local hospital by a friend, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Officers converged on the area and one male was arrested on Gladstone Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Other male suspects are being sought as the investigation continues. The initial investigation has revealed the incident began as a disturbance involving several people inside an apartment on Elgin Court. Multiple shots were fired during the disturbance. It is unknown how many guns were involved.
No other injuries have been reported at this time. The area has been cordoned off as the investigation continues. A larger canvass of the neighbourhood will take place today and members of the Public Safety Unit will be performing a ground search for evidence this morning.
