On Monday, July 25, 2016, the Toronto Police Service informed the public that Astrit Shkurta, 66, was wanted in an Attempt Murder investigation.

It was alleged that:

  • on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the suspect went to an address in the Main Street and Danforth Avenue area
  • the suspect confronted a man, 29, known to him, as he was leaving a residence
  • the suspect pointed a firearm at the man and fired three shots before fleeing on foot
  • the suspect has since been identified as Astrit Shkurta, 66 of Toronto, wanted for Attempt Murder


On Monday, October 2, 2017, members of the 54 Division Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of the TPS Fugitive Squad, arrested Astrit Shkurta, 67, of Toronto. He is charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Unauthorized possession of a Firearm
3) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
4) Careless Use of Firearm

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, 10 a.m.
