Waterloo Regional Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Brian Clive Bingley, 56, of Cambridge after receiving several reports from elderly residents who have been scammed out of money.

From August 3, 2017 to September 6, 2017, police have received more than 30 complaints from residents in the Galt area of Cambridge and the Borden Avenue area of Kitchener, all reporting that a male has approached them at their home requesting to clean their eaves troughs. The male acts aggressively and seems to target women and elderly women who live alone. In some cases, the male convinces the victim to let him into the house for an “inspection.” Some of the victims reported feeling intimidated and, as a result, paid for work to be done.

After receiving payment, the male left the home and never returned to do the work. On September 6, 2017, police received a report that the male came back to one of the residences after being denied work and allegedly broke in, stealing personal items. He was confronted by the homeowner and fled on a bicycle.

Mr. Bingley is wanted on one count of Break, Enter and Commit, Mischief Under $5,000, Utter Threats and two counts of Fraud Under $5,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-650-8500 ext. 8422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
