Weather warning: Rainfall warning expand to much of Northern Ontario

Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 mm are expected by Tuesday morning.

Periods of rain associated with a cold front will continue today for areas from Timmins to New Liskeard. Heavier rain will develop across all regions by this evening with 30 to 40 mm expected by Tuesday morning. Rain will gradually taper to a few showers Tuesday morning.

In addition to the rain, winds gusting to near 70 km/h are possible for regions adjacent Lake Superior tonight into Tuesday.

This rain is associated with a developing low-pressure system that will track towards Sault Ste. Marie by Tuesday morning.

At this time rainfall amounts are expected to remain below rainfall warning criteria. Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologists are closely monitoring this situation and rainfall warnings will be issued if necessary.
