On Sunday, November 12, 2017, Waterloo Regional Police responded to Westmount Road and Highland Road in Kitchener for a report of a male who was attempting to steal a motor vehicle from a business.
Police searched the area and located a suspect walking on Westmount Road, near Greenbrook Drive. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect but he resisted and began assaulting the officer. During the altercation, the suspect disarmed the officer’s baton from his belt and attempted to strike the officer. The officer was able to gain control and place the suspect under arrest. No injuries were sustained.
A 21-year-old Kitchener man has been arrested and charged with several offences including, Assault Police with Intent to Resist Arrest, Disarming a Peace Officer and four counts of Breach Probation.
