On Thursday November 9, 2017 at approximately 6:00pm, a 63 year old Guelph resident was operating a motorized wheelchair northbound in the southbound curb lane of Gordon Street south of Poppy Drive.
The wheelchair came into collision with a 2005 Ford Taurus that was travelling southbound in the southbound curb lane. That motor vehicle was operated by a 45 year old Burlington male.
The 63 year old victim was transported to Guelph General Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 7:00pm.
The driver of the Ford Taurus did not suffer any injuries.
Gordon Street was closed between Clair Road and Maltby Road for approximately 5 hours while the scene was examined by Collision Reconstruction Investigators.
