(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – On October 27, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) requested assistance from members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment, to conduct a vehicle stop on Hwy 11, Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

The driver and passenger were stopped and arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was conducted by members of the Temiskaming OPP and CSCU at a residence on Lakeshore Road in the City of Temiskaming Shores (formerly the Town of Liskeard). The search resulted in the following items being seized:

  • Methamphetamine (speed) pills
  • Fentanyl pills
  • Crystal meth
  • Cannabis hash
  • Cannabis shatter
  • Sawed off pump shot gun
  • 22. caliber assault semi-automatic assault rifle
  • Various caliber ammunition
  • XBG pellet pistol
  • Air rifle

Dwayne NELSON (46) years of age of Temiskaming Shores (formerly the Town of New Liskeard), Ontario was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (x2) – in Canada, contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance (x3)- contrary to section 145(3) of the CC,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine (x2), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Hash), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Shatter), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2), contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Breach of Firearms Regulations – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon (x2), contrary to section 86(2) of the CC , and
  • Possession of Loaded and Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 95(a) of the CC

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Temiskaming Shores (formerly the Town of Haileybury), Ontario, on October 31, 2017.

Claire LAFORGE (46) years of age of Temiskaming Shores (formerly the Town of New Liskeard) was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine (x2), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Hash), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cannabis Resin (Shatter), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2), contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Breach of Firearms Regulations – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon (x2), contrary to section 86(2) of the CC, and
  • Possession of Loaded and Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 95(a) of the CC

The accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Temiskaming Shores (formerly the Town of Haileybury), Ontario, on November 28, 2017.
