(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment investigated a motor vehicle collision after being called to a Rainham Road, South Cayuga, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at approximately 11:34 a.m., OPP along with Haldimand County Fire Services and paramedics responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Through the course of the investigation, it has determined that a grey coloured motor vehicle, being operated by an 18-year-old male of Selkirk, Ontario was travelling westbound on Rainham Road when the driver crossed over the centre line colliding head-on with a black coloured SUV that was travelling westbound. The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old female and a 69-year-old female passenger, both of Selkirk, Ontario were transported to a local area hospital to be treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the motor vehicle was also transported by paramedics to a local area hospital to be treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.
The 69-year-old female was later pronounced deceased at the hospital by attending physicians.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
