A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including assault and uttering threats following a domestic incident.
Shortly after midnight on January 9, 2018, the accused and victim became involved in an argument while at a Peterborough address. During the incident, it was reported that the accused assaulted and choked the victim, threatened her and threw her laptop at a wall. The victim was able to leave the location. Police and EMS were called and attended the location. The victim was transported to a local hospital as a result of her injuries.
Officers located the accused walking in the area and as a result of the investigation he was arrested and charged with the following:
- Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Fail to comply with a recognizance X2
The accused, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Jan. 9).
The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident.
