Earlier this year, the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, conducted a criminal investigation which resulted in a number of serious human trafficking-related charges being laid against 24-year old Austin Tyler WELLS.
The charges at that time included: Traffic in Persons under 18, Material Benefit Resulting in Persons Under 18, Procuring Under 18 x 2, Material Benefit from Sexual Services Under 18, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
Additional information led members of the Major Crime Unit of the Caledon OPP, with assistance from Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) to seek public’s assistance in locating Austin WELLS.
He was wanted on a warrant for:
- Human Trafficking,
- Material Benefit from Sexual Services Under 18,
- Procuring Person Under 18,
- Making Child Pornography,
- Distributing Child Pornography,
- Advertising Sexual Services,
- Sexual Exploitation,
- Utter Threat and
- Breach of Recognizance.
On January 5, 2018, members from the OPP which included the Repeat Offenders Parole Enforcement (ROPE) executed a warrant at a residence in Mississauga, where he was arrested without incident and is currently in custody.
