Three arrested after gun pointed at resident on Heron St in Thunder Bay

On January 10, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. a 911 call was received reporting the sound of gunshots and a male outside with a gun. TBPS officers were quickly on the scene to secure the perimeter and contain a house located in the 100 block of Heron Street.

The Command post was set up and efforts began to communicate with individuals believed to be in the residence. At 9:07 p.m. a male and female exited the house, surrendered to police, arrested and transported to the Balmoral Police station.

The investigation has revealed that a male and female were consuming alcohol inside an apartment in the house when they had a disagreement. The 21-year-old male took a gun outside. While outside he pointed the gun at a neighbour who was just arriving home. The male and female reentered the home and the gun was discharged. There were no injuries.

Officers entered the apartment after the arrest to confirm that it was vacant. Officers observed a number of long guns, ammunition and a compound bow in plain view. The residence is being held awaiting a search warrant to do a more thorough search for weapons.

Laurita Oshkineegish, 20 year old has been charged with Breach of Probation.

Caleb Koostachin, 21 years old has been charged with Pointing a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of Firearm While Prohibited.

A third male who owns the apart was arrested during this incident. Terence Hudson, 26 year old has been charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm and Breach of Probation.

All three individuals appeared in court this morning and have been remanded in custody.
