Two pedestrians struck by vehicles in St. Catharines

At approximately 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11th, 2018, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, St.Catharines Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on Niagara Street near Geneva Street in the City of St.Catharines, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara. 

Initial investigation revealed that a 2002 Chevrolet Impala was being driven northbound on Niagara Street by an 82-year-old St.Catharines male when a 32-year-old St.Catharines female, who was crossing Niagara Street and walking westbound, stepped into the path of this motor vehicle. This female pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital before being transported to an out of town hospital in critical condition.   

The driver of the Chevrolet did not suffer any physical injuries in this collision.  

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.    

At approximately 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, January 11th, 2018, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, St.Catharines Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on Dieppe Road near Neilson Avenue in the City of St.Catharines, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara. 

Initial investigation revealed that a 21-year-old St.Catharines male was walking on Dieppe Road when he was struck by a westbound 2006 Lexus SUV that was being driven by a 72-year-old St.Catharines male. This pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital before being transported to an out of town hospital in critical condition.   

The driver of the Lexus did not suffer any physical injuries in this collision. 

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
