(SEINE RIVER FIRST NATION, ON) – On February 3, 2018, Treaty Three Police Service requested assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit regarding an aggravated assault investigation in Seine River First Nation. The victim, a 42-year-old male identified as Rudy WHITECROW from Seine River First Nation was transported to Thunder Bay for medical assistance and on February 5, 2018, he succumbed to his injuries.

As a result, officers with the Treaty Three Police Service, OPP North West Region Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services under the direction of Detective Inspector Darryl SIGOUIN of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.

The post-mortem will take place at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) in Toronto on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
